Last week, the first introductory lesson of the course was held for aspiring authors who plan to write and publish a book:) This lesson was like a self-fulfilling prophecy that was supposed to inspire participants and give them confidence in their abilities. Ekaterina Zvontsova and Renat Shagabutdinov simultaneously talked about non-fiction and fiction. The following topics were considered:

  1. How to Start Writing a Book Authors of blogs and articles can start to collect a book from their already published blog materials. (That's what I plan to do.). But even if you do not have a blog, but there are social networks, you can search in your posts for materials to start, so as not to face the effect of an empty page. If we are talking about a fiction book, it is worth starting when you have an idea of a plot or characters that you want to share with others or raise an important issue. But here it is important to choose characters and a topic that is interesting to both you and the reader. 2) Why write a book Writing a book can help structure thoughts, share experiences, convey your philosophy. (That’s why I write articles and want to write a book.). Separately, the course experts note that writing a book can be a way to become an expert in your field and raise your status. But here it is important to understand the topic that you are exploring in order to better present it to others. But art books can help the author to reflect on his experience and present it so that it has a therapeutic effect for readers who are also going through a difficult period.
  2. Writing a book allows you to learn something new and creative. Through creativity, the author can learn something new and interesting, and it can also be a way to communicate with the world. This can help you find like-minded people and build a community around you.
  3. Success. Even if success comes to the author, do not expect instant results. It is important to keep working on your skills and improve your chances of success. Often there is an approach of accumulation of authority - first the author works on a note, which then works for the author:) Success factors can be: expertise, platform, charisma, readability, structured text, humor, examples, illustrations. It's cool if there's a viral effect: word of mouth, recommendations to others. Sometimes the visual design and cover of a book also influences the success of a book.
  4. Impostor and critic Experts say that with the growth of knowledge of the topic, there is a growing awareness of how much is not yet known. Therefore, even experts have imposter syndrome. (In fact, experts can overcome it.). Another story is based on the “curse of knowledge”, when it is difficult for experts to transfer their knowledge, because for them everything is obvious and it is not clear why chew the material. (The rest of us don't know much.).
  5. Fears and Doubts of Beginner Authors Experts say that even if you are not a “heaven,” you can still succeed if you develop and move forward. If you are aware of them, you are on the right path.
  6. Unique theme of the book It seems that everything has been written before us. But you can always find your own and write a unique book at the junction of two topics that can be ordinary and trivial. In addition, you can write a book for specific readers who may be different in their level of knowledge and interests. In general, having already written books on a chosen topic is not a verdict, but rather a good sign - people are interested in this topic:)
