With great interest, I swallowed this documentary about the meteoric rise of startup Oculus VR, which created the revolutionary VR helmet Oculus Rift. The author of the book is American writer Blake J. Harris, known for the bestseller Console Wars. (2014) Sega vs. Nintendo. To work on this book, Harris gained unprecedented access to the company's team. 2016 During the year, he conducted hundreds of interviews with key Oculus employees, observing the launch of the first product and the life of the startup after the multibillion-dollar takeover of Facebook. The result was a gripping story about how a group of enthusiasts tried to “carry out the future” ... and what came of it. (Banned in Russia company Meta on this wave even renamed from Facebook, but about this in the book is not mentioned.).

The main character of the book is Palmer Luckey - a young self-taught and inventor who 19 For years, he built a prototype VR helmet Oculus Rift in his trailer, but did not think about creating a company.
