[1/3] Alibaba: The House That Jack Ma Built (Alibaba. The history of the world ascent from the first person) (Category Management)
In this book, Duncan Clarke tells the story of Jack Ma and Alibaba, which became one of the three big tech giants in China, along with Tencent and Baidu. Jack's journey wasn't easy, but his ambitious approach and bet on people played out, providing us with another survivor's mistake story. (survivorship bias). By the way, yesterday began my two-week vacation and the book I swallowed in one day - it was very interesting and dynamic as a blockbuster action movie. By the way, the book was published in 2016 Since then, a lot of water has leaked, so it will be interesting to read what happened to the company and Jack after the book was finished.
The book consists of the following chapters 1) Iron Triangle At the beginning of the book, the author shows the current position of Alibaba Group and shows three factors that determine the success of the company: Alibaba E-com sites with a rich range of products Logistics chain, which provides fast and reliable delivery A financial subsidiary that provides ease and security of payment on websites The Jack Ma trio is called the Iron Triangle. 2) Jack's magic The whole chapter is devoted to Jack’s charisma and at the very beginning he is compared in this parameter with Steve Jobs. Jack is able to speak in public and utter profound phrases similar to Aesop's fables:) He knows how to play on human emotions and use humor. Jack's most famous quote shows his priorities Clients first, employees second, shareholders third. Interestingly, Jack is a fan of novelist Jin Yong, who writes books about martial artists and their adventures. On this, Jack built his equivalent of leadership principles as in Amazon and called it the six-sided spiritual sword:
- Clients. A key aspect of Alibaba’s sales is personal interaction. Kdresswork Alibaba has group games, songs and trips of employees, morning and evening meetings, mentoring, promotion of conditional employees of the month.
- Meeting change with joy The company has accepted rotation of employees for new projects and new regions of the country.
- Honesty. This line is aimed at fighting corruption. Inside the company, there are Xiaoer judges who disassemble customer appeals towards sellers. Also, forced rotations do not allow the formation of alternative places of power.
- Passion. Compared to other companies, "people in Alibaba B"onMore enthusiastic about work, more honest and more hardworking
- Commitment This line is characterized by the exhortation of Jack Ma that “you need to work fun, and live seriously”, and most other companies believe that you need to work seriously, and live fun.
Interestingly, Alibaba’s culture is strong enough that people who have worked in it have formed the Former Orange Club, a non-profit organization that allows them to stay connected and learn about new investment and career opportunities.
