Continue. story About the book design dream work can be shown as the advice of the authors to decompose 4 weekdays

1) Week 1 - Diagnostics and reframe

  • Start an energy diary. (5 days). Note tasks that “charge/suck.” Find it. 2‑3 rapid improvement (automation, templates, timeboxes in the schedule)
  • Reframing top pain. For example, "Too many rallies" can be turned into a "problem" 2 Reduced from 10 hours to 6 hours in total 15min stand-ups and Assink-updates.” That's MAP. (minimally feasible)which the authors propose to set themselves Separate gravity and tasks. “Equities go down” is gravity; “We don’t have tests” is a challenge.

2) Week 2 - Mini-experiments (bias to action) Make a job backlog: write it down. 10 hypotheses that will make the job better/more valuable; choose 1 maximum effect

  • Roll out the prototype, for example, put add no-meeting block 2×90 min in your schedule, or the introduction of pre-commit hooks with the run of inspections. It is necessary to determine the success metric in advance. Do some info interviews. It could be. 30Talk to people from interesting teams/roles. Ask for stories, not “are there any jobs?” Identify skills/artifacts that you value.

3) Week 3 - Remodel/Relocate Make it up. 1A pager to change your work. What you remove/delegate, what you take in return, the benefit to the team, the risks, the verification plan through 2 weeks.

  • Try the shadow rotation. Ask for it. 1–2 Technical Shadow Slot to the Neighboring Team (Incident review, demo). It's a safe "relocate prototype."

4) Week 4 - deepening the analysis

  • Run an ARC scan. Rate your work on a scale. 1–5Autonomy/connectivity/competence and analyze whether these needs are met in his or her current job and how the situation can be improved. Evaluate how you would like to look like a balance of money, meaning and self-development in your work. In the long run, a career cannot be measured by a single indicator. (For example, only the salary)
  • Implement WIP limits. Nothing more. 2 parallel tasks; the rest is in line.
  • Practice growth rituals. Weekly short post-analysis without accusations: what to try differently in the next sprint

If there is no improvement, then you can start thinking about “creative dismissal”, where you need to finish the current work as cool as possible, while simultaneously updating your portfolio / repo / cases, collecting references, compiling a history of transition. ("what I changed and learned."). The general message is that we need to leave beautifully, so that the current job becomes a springboard to new heights, and leaving does not look like an escape.
