But for architecture, the author suggests thinking about the concept of an architectural walk, when we work on one topic from different angles to get an idea of the problem area in which we plan to develop something.

Architects must be able to use both types of thinking to successfully design and develop software. (But even I find it hard to think outside the box.). Architects should take responsibility for their philosophy of architecture and not accept what industry and education impose on them. Reading books on a wide range of topics, not just your specialty, can help with this.
