3 AImigo S1E10 Materials: Agents with Payment Authority (#AI)
I have put together the materials for the tenth episode of 3 AImigo, released on October 16, 2026: “Agents with Payment Authority: Will We Trust AI with Our Money?” Together with Evgeny Sergeev and Alexey Litvinov, we discussed what an assistant needs to handle a purchase from start to finish. Giving it a budget is easier than explaining which groceries the family needs this week.
We discussed:
🔸 Why repeating the previous basket is not enough Preferences change, and a successful search does not guarantee a successful purchase. Evgeny talked about an agent for Vinted and unwanted extension leads that ended up in an order alongside a drill driver.
🔸 What authority we are actually delegating Searching, choosing, negotiating, approving an order, and paying are separate steps. Using Checkout and Payment in AP2, we explored the difference between choosing a product and authorizing a transfer of money.
🔸 Where to stop automation A prepared basket with human approval can already be a useful result. Evgeny suggested a limited marketing budget as a more straightforward scenario for autonomous spending.
🔸 Why stores are in no hurry to hand the customer over to a chat The conversation brought together up-to-date prices and stock levels, customer relationships, analytics, and additional sales. Behind the assistant’s convenient interface, every party to the transaction still has its own interests.
🔸 Who will sort out a purchase that goes wrong We discussed returns, mistakes, and the possibility of manipulating the agent itself. The idea that an assistant will protect us from fraudsters remains a hypothesis; we did not establish a general answer to the question of responsibility.
It became a conversation about levels of trust: from “find some options” to “choose and buy.” There are far more decisions between those points than a single payment button.
