3 AImigo S1E4: AI Hires AI. How Do We Redesign Tech Interviews?
A candidate's AI meets the hiring side's AI — a Megazord versus a Super Ranger. Banning AI does not make an interview AI-free, a résumé increasingly fails to demonstrate the ability to do the job, and old online stages produce an ever noisier signal. The company's question remains the same: will this person succeed in the role?
On Friday at 12:00 Moscow time, during a live episode of 3 AImigo, we will look at hiring from both sides—the candidate and the hiring manager—and discuss how to redesign it for AI-Assisted Engineering.
— How to build the hiring process as an eval system: define the signals required for a role, prepare a task bank with strong known solutions, and verify that each stage measures the intended signal. — How to combine AI-on and AI-off interviews, online and offline. Without AI, test the fundamentals; with AI, observe real work: running code, deciding what to delegate to an agent, and verifying the result. — Why generation speed matters less than engineering judgment: clarifying requirements, decomposition, finding context, system design, debugging, tests, security, failure modes, trade-offs, ownership of the final decision, and the ability to reject a convincing but incorrect model answer. — Why a single interview track may no longer work. Product engineers, platform engineers, and R&D engineers create value in different ways, so they need different signals and tasks. — What changes for candidates: AI strengthens both sides, the market is stratifying, networking is not a new hack, job searching becomes almost a full-time job, and the first AI-related job loss may be a vacancy that a company simply never opens.
As usual, the three of us will work through the topic together: Evgeny Sergeev, Alexey Litvinov (@tip_podcast), and Alexander Polomodov. Watch the episode on YouTube. Then tell us which stage of your most recent interview actually predicted the work ahead and which merely tested your ability to pass interviews.
