3 AImigo S1E5: A Junior Engineer Without Simple Tasks — How Do You Enter IT in the AI Era?

Building products in IT has become easier. Getting paid to do it has become harder. AI agents already handle bug fixes and small features—the tasks junior engineers once used to learn the ropes. If the simple tasks disappear, how do we grow the next engineer?

This Friday at 12:00, in the fifth episode of 3 AImigo, we continue our discussion of hiring, this time from the perspective of people who are choosing a profession, finishing university, or trying to land their first job.

The bottom rung of the familiar “junior → middle → senior” ladder has broken. The industry still needs new engineers, but an individual company has a stronger incentive to amplify an experienced specialist with agents than to spend years developing a newcomer. That is a risk for the industry and a new reality for junior engineers.

We will discuss what can serve as a viable entry ticket: — an end-to-end project of your own, from the problem and acceptance criteria to production, support, and a rollback plan; — the ability not merely to obtain code, but to explain an agent’s solution, verify it, and take responsibility for it; — the ability to learn: identify gaps, ask questions, and incorporate the answers instead of merely collecting them in a checklist; — interest in the business problem and the user, not only the technology; — relationships with people and a professional community—this route has not disappeared.
