3 AImigo S1E9: Boundaries of Autonomy — Episode Materials (#AI4SDLC)

I have collected the materials for season one, episode nine of 3 AImigo, “What Can We Trust an AI Agent With? Boundaries of Autonomy.” On October 9, 2026, Evgeny Sergeev, Aleksey Litvinov, and I discussed what we actually delegate to an agent—and how much of our work stays out of view when it appears to act independently.

We discussed:

🔸 From an action to an area of responsibility. Executing a command, completing a task, and owning an end-to-end outcome are different agreements. Each needs its own criteria, context, and permissions.

🔸 Why fast generation runs into approvals. Evgeny described automating content releases at Flo Health. If expert requirements only appear at the final review, faster preparation does not yet speed up the whole process.

🔸 Accounting for actual independence. Preparing rules, reviewing results, intervening, failed attempts, and recovery all count toward the cost of an accepted task. Agent runtime alone does not establish either the size of the task solved or its value to a person.

We closed by discussing how this changes the work of engineers and managers. Our expectations differ here: organizational structure and scale still matter too much to promise everyone the same outcome.

Tell us in the comments about a task you already delegate entirely to an agent. At what point do you still have to step back in?
