Pasha, my eldest son, graduated from high school this year and went to university this summer and it was a story. All the way, he was told that he had to go tech, take math and physics and go to a programmer. It seems that this is a plan-capcan, but Pasha's whole school was on programming in general purple. I remember buying him somewhere. 10 Lego Mindstorm, where you could assemble and program robots. Robots Pasha collected with pleasure, but offered to program the Pope:)

In 10 Pasha moved in with me. (He lived with my ex-wife.) And then the pressure to be a programmer eased -- the point of going into a profession when you don't like it at all. But the question is, who does Pasha want to be? My wife, Nastya, invited Pasha to go to the open days of different universities and Pasha really liked the open day. School of Design At the Higher School of Economics, Pasha became determined to become a game designer. Pasha also went to the Institute of Business and Design, where there was also a direction of game design. In fact, Pasha decided to try out for two of these universities. 11 class. He made the decision closer to the end. 10 class.

All right. 11 Pasha’s class bore literature and Russian in order to pass the exam for passing points, since before that he did not have Russian and literature in his plans, and he was preparing for a creative project that was necessary for HSE. Pasha passed the exam normally, but for HSE this was not enough - only remained. Institute of Business and DesignHe passed a successful creative test this week. Then it remains to bring all the documents, sign the contract, pay for training and wait for the order to enroll. This is how my son went from programmer to designer in his last year of high school. I hope he enjoys his undergraduate studies because game design is an interesting thing, and the curriculum looks promising:)

P.S. In retrospect, this decision of Pasha seems logical - in junior grades, he and I were constantly hacked into different board games, and by high school he loved drawing. But it was hard to get past the mantra of being a programmer that came from significant adults. By the way, I already realized by high school that this is not for Pasha and vice versa discouraged him from this choice:)
