Four years ago I came across and read a book by Alexei Gerasimenko.Financial reporting for managers and beginners" I found the book interesting:) I used to be uninterested in financial reporting, but I was pretty good at microeconomics and macroeconomics — even in graduate economics, I was listed as:). If we talk about the book, it is written in simple and lively language with interesting, but already outdated practical examples - the most relevant relate to times of crisis. 2008 years. In any case, the book turned out to be interesting and I liked that the author quite simply told about the basic principles of financial accounting:

  1. objectivity (objective principle)
  2. calculation (accural principle)
  3. conformity (matching principle)
  4. conservatism
  5. rationality The author further explains what is included in the financial statements: balance (balance sheet)
  • profit statement (profit & loss statement, P&L)
  • cash flow statement (cash flow statement)
  • report on changes in equity (statement of shareholder's equity) Explanation of all these reports In the rest of the book, the author analyzed the financial statements of various companies, explaining how all this machinery works:) Anyway, I recommend it.

P.S. I remember this book because today I am in a lecture on finance as part of my MBA training:)
