The other day I finished reading the book “Dramatics or the Poetics of Rationality” by Lauris Gundars and then went to the movies for “Elvis”. As a result, he was able to test the approach described by the author of the book to analyze the dramatic content of this film. In short, Lauris in his book interestingly describes the importance of characters. (protagonists) works.

- Age - in the film about Elvis, we are shown the moment when it all began as a child, when music descended on him.
- Elvis' parents are also vividly portrayed, a father who sat down for forging checks and a mother who moved the family to black Memphis and dragged it on herself. Plus, Elvis had a twin brother who died immediately after birth - all this set the vector of Elvis' life.
- What this character does for a living - initially Elvis was a driver, but tried to record music, but fame came to him not immediately.
- What a dream character - in the film it seems that Elvis wanted to do something meaningful in music and get recognition and it seems that he succeeded, but along the way he lost his family, health and a little died. (into 42 year)
Interestingly, the first two components (age) The third point shows how character ensures its existence now and only the fourth component. (dream) It is aimed at the future and acts as a driving force for the development of the plot. But in order for the plot to develop interestingly, we need several detailed characters whose dreams intersect so that they cannot be fulfilled together. In the film about Elvis, the second bright character is Colonel Parker, played by Tom Hanks. This is the Impressario of Elvis, who helped him climb to the top and chained him to the film as Prometheus, not to the rock, but to the International otlet, in which Elvis gave performances for many years. Actually, colliding the dreams of different characters lead to a paradox that drives the development of the plot.
