eternaut (The Eternaut)
This graphic novel by Hector Oesterheld and Alberto Brecchia is an iconic Argentine comic book that was created more than ever. 50 years ago. Buenos Aires and a group of friends suddenly find themselves among the survivors of a deadly snowfall that kills everyone they touch. The story is told by Juan Salvo, whose family and friends escaped the snow by taking shelter in a house. Next, they make forays into an empty city for the necessary things and at some point, representatives of the resistance come for them, who recruit them to crash. There, they prepare to face an unknown adversary that is not other people, as one would expect to draw parallels between snowfall and nuclear winter. No, the opponents are even more sinister, dangerous and incomprehensible. Interestingly, the main character calls himself an eeternaut, a traveler through eternity, and only at the end of the book do we understand how ∞ is connected with the story of the hero.
In addition to the cool history and atmospheric illustrations, the cult of the comic is also due to the fact that Hector Oesterheld predicted the advent of a military dictatorship in this novel. 1976 - 1983 The heroes of the comic book became heroes of resistance, and the author, along with his four daughters, fell into the millstone of this dictatorship. 1977 They were arrested by the Argentine military and never seen again.
