In the list "50 The Great Books of Philosophy I Am About remembered Yesterday, there was a book by Nicollo Machiavelli called The Prince. In addition, this book is often mentioned in the context of political decision-making:) So I decided to remember her today. The book is written in the style of a manual for a novice sovereign. In it, Nicollo talks about the types of government, about the military forces of states, about how to be allies and how to deal with the inhabitants of their country, about the norms of morality for sovereigns. In general, everything is simple, rational and quite cynical. For example, based on the author’s instructions

• the main thing for a sovereign is not to be, but to appear just, generous, keeping his word, etc. - but in fact the norms of morality of ordinary people for sovereigns are simply inverted.
• for problematic cases to involve individual people, and not solve them yourself - the king-father should seem to the people infallible, and if something is done wrong, it is bad boyars:) If you choose between the attitude of the people towards the king, the important thing is not to be loved, but not to be hated.) A good book, tested by history:) Look around and you will understand that these covenants are honored by modern statesmen. Understanding the principles of Machiavelli, you understand the saying that power changes a person. True, sometimes it seems that a person already has to be a certain warehouse to rush to power.
