I wrote it here. essay How AI is not just changing the interface of platform products, but the very nature of platform products... and what platform teams can do about it. I've been thinking a lot about this lately, and I've been looking at cases as well. Gitlab, Github, Atlassian

The title of the article is inspired by a galaxy of texts with the main thesis “SaaS is Dead”, which present provocative essays that classic software with buttons and forms survives the last years, because a person ceases to be the main user of the interface. This text is about the same thing, but it's deployed in a way that's rarely seen: inside the company, inside the engineering platforms. On IDP. (internal developer platform) IaaS, Managed Services and the rest of the platform services for engineers.

The main thesis of the article is simple: the internal platform in the form in which we used to build it – as a product with its GUI, its scripts and its product manager who drives the roadmap – is experiencing exactly the same fracture as the external SaaS. And most platform teams don't notice it yet because they're doing the wrong thing.

In this article, I tried to answer questions about where development platforms are going, why and what to do with all this. Details can be read in my blog
