How do I get information to be in the subject of IT and not only
I recently received a similar question from my colleague, Vova Konopleva, CTO of our bank for legal entities, which runs its channel @konoplevthoughts. I liked the question and decided to turn the answer into a separate post, where I will tell about my sources of information.
1) Books I keep track of important books on topics that interest me. For this, I focus on new products on the platform.
- Online platform site O’Reillywhere there are books of different publishers, as well as videos and courses
- Publishing site Peter.where it is interesting to track the novelties, and then read their unscathed in the English version
- Publishing site DMK PressWhere it is interesting to track new products and they can even buy and read (Like, here I am. wrote About the last batch of books bought from DMK about statistics)
- Publishing site MYTHwhere I buy a lot of books, but rarely any of them are devoted to IT, as this is not a profile topic for MYTH Separately, I am interested in books on both IT and modern science, but usually in the format of scientific and popular literature. This allows me to keep my knowledge up to date.
2) Whitepapers I love reading important whitepapers on topics that affect me: architecture, management, distributed systems. I also have a set of sources for that.
- ACM website (Association for Computing Machinery) The Computer Engineering Association, the oldest and largest international organization in the computer field. There's a bunch of whitepapers on this site. I would like to note that joining the ACM allowance Great to save on access: membership itself is worth it 99$, for 75You can access the above-mentioned platform O’Reilly, Skillsoft Percipio and Pluralsight. 99$ to ACM Digital Library. In the end, 273$ a year give a bundle, which is cheaper in 2 access to O'Reilly separately

- Website. Meta Research (banned Meta in Russia)There is also a lot of interesting material.
3) Telegram channels Not the entire list of channels, but the one from which I often learn something new.
- Siolo. (@seeallochnaya) I’m reading a lot about LLMs and everything related to them. From these texts, I think I understand everything well.
- gonzo reviews of ML articles (@gonzo_ML) - here I learn about whitepapers and realize that I do not understand all this too well:)
- Data engineering. (@rockyourdata) - here I learn about the modern landscape of data technologies, but with a focus on Western SaaS solutions and an admixture of on-prem solutions
- Architecture of IT solutions (@it_arch) From here I learn about interesting articles on architecture and design.
- DDDevotion (@dddevotion) - here I get news about DDD and the same architecture and design
4) Popular resources on the topic of IT
- Consultant site Thought Works and specifically their issues about teradar
- Website. InfoQ and monthly mailings on architecture
5) YouTube channels
- Canal. gotowhere there are records from conferences of cool speakers, many of whom are popular authors
