After reviewing Revolut’s approach, automation I was wondering where they were going from public sources. (Mainly their own strategy announcements).

1) Where Revolut is headed (plan 2025–2027) The company opened a global headquarters in London’s Canary Wharf and laid the investment program at $13 billion 5 years; target - 100 Millions of customers in the middle 2027 year (September 2025 was 65 million). Growth vector: international expansion, product innovation, strengthening of B2B direction and partnership.

  • Latin America. In 2025 Revolut granted final approval to start banking operations in Mexico; Colombia granted authorization to set up bank (first).
  • India. Official launch in 2025 with UPI integration; public purpose - 20 millions of users 2030.
  • Western Europe. Regional hub in Paris opens and € investment programme announced1,1 billion 3 Apply for a French banking license.
  • Britain. In 2024 Authorized with restrictions (mobilisation)The formal launch of the UK-bank was planned in 2025.

2) Organizational structure and how the development

  • Corporate governance. Board of Directors 8 person: chairman, 2 executive director and 5 independent NED; the work is carried out through 4 committee (audit, risk/compliance, remuneration, appointments).
  • Engineering through "squads" and "product ownership." Revolut works in small cross-functional teams. (typically 6–8 man). Product Owner manages teams as ‘local CEOs’, giving end-to-end responsibility (in the company ~150 product owners)
  • Scope of IT. 13k engineers, 1. 2k microservices, 1. 1k DB; DevOps platform is managed by the team ~15 Engineers with a high level of automation (Centralized catalog of systems, self-service pipelines).
  • Engineering culture. There is no dedicated QA, engineers write tests, monitor and operate their services.

3) Architecture and infrastructure

  • Cloud accommodation. Backends and web fronts hosted in certified Google Cloud data centers; deployment - Kubernetes (GKE)It also uses the Compute Engine. In 2025 declared deepening Long-term partnership with Google Cloud to grow 100 millions of users.
  • Beckend stack. The company officially calls Java 21, PostgreSQL (jOOQ)Redis, Docker/Kubernetes, Google Cloud; architectural approaches - DDD, CQRS, TDD.
  • Web stack (2021 year). React + TypeScript, Redux, Rush (monorepo), TeamCity (CI/CD)Sentry; Automatic Deployments on GKE.
  • Microservices and events (2020 year). Wide application of event-driven architecture and own event bus EventStore/EventStream

4) AI/ML: Role and priorities

  • Client and Operational Assistants. Revolut has officially announced 2 gen AI assistants, and in 2024 Announce new consumer-AI-assistant and line of “smart” services (including mortgage/ATM pilots n). Financial security and efficiency. In yearly 2024 - $800Millions of potential frauds prevented (score).
  • Infrastructure AI. Expanding partnership with Google Cloud and using Gemini and ML services for fraud, personalization
  • Internal plans 2025. The company researches AI agents to automate sales and support, and builds its own agents.

Generally speaking, the situation is about this. Revolut is purposefully scalable globally (LatAm, India, Western Europe) Relying on licensing and local infrastructure. IT model – standalone product teams + small platform teams, high degree of standardization and automation of development

  • Techstack - cloud-native on top of Google Cloud Platform, Java/Postgres/Redis, Kubernetes; React/TypeScript front; key patterns - microservices, event, DDD/CQRS. AI is a priority: from assistants to fraud and personalization, with a noticeable impact on security and support metrics.
