Programming. Mathematical foundations, means, theory (Category Math)
Today I decided to remember the book of Svyatoslav Sergeyevich Lavrov 2001 It was published as a fundamental textbook on programming. The author was a scientist, a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and one of the pioneers of Soviet programming. This book was his last work. Honestly, I bought it for myself in my first year. 20 Years ago, it seemed a bit complicated, but I honestly tried to read it. Now, reviewing this textbook, I understood why it seemed to me then, the author decided in one book on the subject. 300 Give the basics of mathematics and programming to show the fundamental connection between these disciplines. - Propositional and predicate logic Set theory, and also about graphs and trees Probability, a little about measuring information and random processes Computability theory with lisp and Turing Machine Each of these topics draws on a separate semester course, or even more:) And now that I've been flipping through this book, it seems pretty clear to me. 20Years ago, things didn’t seem so clear. In the second part, the author goes on to the basic concepts and constructions of programming languages, where everything begins with friendly use. Backus forms - Naura to describe the syntax of the language, then continues the description of data structures, action structure, work with procedures, and then new trends in the form of object-oriented and functional programming. In the third part, we are talking about the analysis of the properties of programs, where the author talks about the evaluation of the complexity of algorithms, the proof of the properties of programs, the formalization of the semantics of programming languages, and so on.
In general, the author has written a book in which programming is considered from a mathematical point of view, not from an engineering point of view. This is very different from the dominant approach in our time, but has its own right to life. At one time I liked the book just for its mathematical component, but I decided to learn from other books:)
