Reality Is Not What It Seems (Unreal reality. A journey through a quantum loop)

#PopularScience #Physics

Today I decided to remember the book “Unreal reality”. A journey through the quantum loop by physicist Carlo Rovelli. I first heard about her. 3 rose-year articles in postnauka.ruThere was a chapter on quantum black holes and I immediately added it to my vishlist for buying and reading. I’ve been reading this book for a year and a half and I can say it’s very good. Very simply and on the fingers, the theory of loop quantum gravity as a development of the concept of the Democritus atom is presented:) The book consists of 4 parts:

  1. Roots - the development of physics from the time of ancient Greek philosophers to the end 19 Newtonian gravity and the electromagnetism of Faraday and Maxwell were already discovered and described.
  2. The beginning of the revolution - the emergence of general and special relativity and quantum physics
  3. Quantum space and relational time - a presentation of the loop theory of quantum gravity, which combines 2 successful theories from the previous paragraph
  4. Beyond space and time is a story about how loop theory explains phenomena like the big bang, black holes, eliminates infinities in quantum field theory and allows a better understanding of time:) In general, the book is written easily and interesting. I recommend it.
