Today I decided to remember the book "Life on the edge" ("Life on the Edge: The Coming of Age of Quantum Biology") NewScience series by 2 professors from the University of Surrey: Theorphysics and Molecular Genetics. This pair of researchers decided to co-write the first book on quantum biology... and it was very exciting. This is not surprising for the book in this series.

The book begins with a robin’s journey from the forest of central Sweden to the south, using the Earth’s magnetic field as a kind of gps. They're coming. 10 Chapters in which the authors analyze how magnetoreception works, how genes, enzymes, photosynthesis, smell perception work, the question of the reliability of information during cell replication is considered. At the end of the book, the authors get to the questions of “what is mind”, “how life began” and give an interesting metaphor for quantum biology aka “life on the edge of a storm”. The book seems to end there, but... In the epilogue, the robin symbolically returns home, closing the cycle:)

In general, the book is really interesting and can be recommended for broadening your horizons. But if viewed from a scientific point of view, the book is a lot of unconfirmed hypotheses, however, they sound quite logical. The original book was completed in 2014 I left the desire to know the fate of a number of the mentioned hypotheses and directions of research and it is pleasant that this is possible, since it has already passed. 8 years. And 8 This is already a solid period of time, for which a lot of new research and ideas have certainly appeared in such a dynamic field. Something like the release of whole new seasons of your favorite series, the viewing of which stopped for you in the most interesting place:)
