Today I decided to recall the science fiction book Six Awakenings by Mer Lafferty, which I read a year ago.
The story seemed interesting enough:
- spacecraft carrying colonists to the planet Artemis, the planned duration of the flight - 400 years
- The ship's crew 6 humans, or rather clones All crew members have hidden skeletons in the closet and went on a flight to start with a clean slate. Something goes wrong and they all wake up. 25 in the form of new clones, when their predecessors (previous cloned versions) They went to their forefathers and there is no information why.
- Artificial intelligence and any records are also reset I liked the book, or rather liked it: The dynamic plot stimulated to find out the secret and unravel who exactly the killer was. An interesting idea about clones, which became a kind of realization of practical immortality and the dream of players to have a save & load function in real life. The absence of black and white characters - they are all rather gray and have a history and some motivation for aggressive actions. However, if you read the book to the end and think about how the crew was formed and the settlers were collected, then you think that the plot is not so grounded and part of the logic is donated towards the dynamics of the plot and the twisted story:)
