In recent days, I’ve been talking a lot about architecture and development processes, so it’s time to remember something from science fiction, more specifically Yoon Ha Li’s book, The Nine-Tailed Fox Gambit.

I remember reading it a couple of years ago and being impressed by both the interesting plot and the cool mechanics of the world. The central role is played by the Calendar, which is a kind of exaggerated and embodied representation of the Pythagoreans as to how numbers affect the world around them. The author built the novel in such a way that we see what is happening through the eyes of the main character, who until the very end of the debut can not collect a puzzle from the events taking place. And the main reason for this misunderstanding is that the events of the first volume are a gambit of the undead General, who has not lost a single battle and was removed from the board almost completely. 400 Years ago, after he fell into madness. At the beginning of the book he was temporarily returned as a trump card to help in the fight against heresy. The world itself seemed to me a dystopia, in which the state is built around 6 factions, which, in fact, are castes with a strict specialization. In general, I recommend reading - excellent science fiction:)
