With the help of examples, he proves that even the smallest lies are weapons of terrible destructive power. A lot of time in the book is devoted to ethics and morality, but there is also a rational part about the fact that

1. Telling the truth is literally simpler – you don’t have to dock different versions of the lie and try to provide a consistent story for everyone involved where the lie is no longer there.
2. lying for good prevents the dissemination of information that can be useful to those you lie to in order to correct your behavior.
3. Disclosed lies undermine the credibility and credibility of those who lie.
4. Unsolved lies hang a heavy stone on the conscience of a liar.

Separately, I would like to note that the author proposes not to tell the truth bluntly, but to be more diplomatic in expressing his thoughts and avoid lying. I liked the book and have been following this approach for a long time. However, initially it was because of laziness, since it is really easier to tell the truth:)
