Since childhood, I love to read scientific pop, for example, Perelman's "Entertaining Physics" was one of my board books. And today I decided to recall Michio Kaku's book "Physics of the Impossible." The author of the book is one of the creators of string theory, which claims to be the “Theory of Everything”. When I first read it, it seemed as if the book awakened the curious little child in me.) In childhood, so often in fairy tales slip fantastic moments like invisibility, teleportation, telepathy, telekinesis, starships, time travel. But then the children grow up and they are told that there is no Santa Claus, as well as teleportation or time travel. Michio Kaku in this book with the peculiar theorism considers the feasibility of all the above phenomena and not only them. He breaks them down into impossible classes. In his opinion

  1. Most of the phenomena will become available already on the horizon of the next decades.
  2. another on the horizon of hundreds and thousands of years
  3. The last class of impossibility, which includes perpetual motion machines and the anticipation of the future, is not yet compatible with the known laws of physics ... and they will become available if the laws are actually slightly different:)

In general, I recommend this book to read.
