I'm a legend. (I Am Legend)

This sci-fi novel by Richard Matheson is interesting to read in the original rather than watch in a popular film adaptation. 2007 year with Will Smith. In the novel itself, the protagonist, Robert Neville, is the only person who has not contracted a disease similar to vampirism. He lives in a well-fortified domain and hunts vampires at night. At some point, he decides to find a cure for the disease and begins to engage in research to defeat the causative agent of vampirism, a bacterium that enters into symbiosis with blood cells.

In general, read the original novel and understand why it is called so ... and after reading you will feel that the picture of the world you originally built is being reconstructed:)
