A star called the Sun. (Category PopularScience)
The last couple of days I read a brilliant book by astronomer Sergei Yazev, The Universe. Travel through time and space.” This is an excellent excursion into the history of human ideas about the cosmos: from mythological pictures of the world to modern cosmology, the Big Bang theory, black holes and quantum physics. I especially liked the fact that the author goes consistently from the very beginning of time to the present moment, describing how our knowledge about the universe has changed, linking the evolution of scientific ideas with the development of observational technology and real human scientists. You feel that you are going this way not in millennia, but literally in days. And so I had only a couple of chapters left to finish the book, I looked out the window of my office and saw our winter sunshine, and then I remembered the lines from the song of the group "Cinema", which perfectly got in the mood.
White snow, grey ice. On the cracked ground A patchwork blanket on her. City in a traffic loop And clouds float over the city. Closing the skylight And there's yellow smoke over the city. The city is two thousand years old. Living under the light A star called the Sun.
In total, as I finish reading Sergey Yazev’s book, I will definitely tell you about it in detail in this channel.
