I read this book by Michael Lopp. (Michael Lopp) english 5 Years ago, by that time, it was no longer the first freshness. 3 re-release and the last was in 2016 year. I liked the book then - the author's style was light and humorous and in places quite accurately hit the goal. In 2020 Michael had a book called “The Art of Leadership” that got me even more. (I'm talking about her. told). And then the time passed and the publishing house "Peter" translated the book "Managing Humans" called "How to Manage Intellectuals." I scolded the title and added it to my virtual list of books that fell under the rink of vandal translators.

Now, while writing my book on Engineering Management, I remembered Michael's work and decided to remember what was good about it and tell you about it.

The book consists of three parts: 1. The Management Quiver - here the author uses the metaphor of arrows and a quiver for them to set the manager's skills. The bottom line is that management almost always involves solving problems. And your skills are the arrows that will hit the target and solve the problem. At the same time, you can replenish your quiver by learning from your supervisors and colleagues. 2. The Process is the Product Everyone screws up, but it is the processes that help prevent problems and disasters. Processes are aimed at giving structure to the work and eliminating actions that are made at random. Processes create some tension between those who create and those who evaluate. This easily leads to bureaucracy, meaningless meetings, conflict situations. And the author here suggests ways to dodge all this like Neo from bullets in the Matrix. 3. Versions of You Here the author talks on his fingers about the geek mindset and how to successfully learn with different people, where each person is a different version of you.) And the final chapters of this part are devoted to how to prepare for the next job and peacefully leave the current one.
