10x engineer - Midlife crisis (Humor column)
It's fresh. sketch The story is about the midlife crisis of the legendary 10x engineer, where humor is built on irony and sarcasm about stereotypes and typical situations in the life of a developer who is considered hyperproductive, but at the same time behaves eccentricly. We see examples of the absurdity of the technological world, hyperbolization of mental abilities, excessive cynicism and alienation of the hero from ordinary people. (He calls them NPCs, non-player characters.). Here are some examples of jokes.
- Look at all these NPCs sinking their souls into whatever cloud has the brightest gradient. They don't even know. I'm really big intelligent. I see what's going on.
- NPCs using free products, thinking it's freedom, giving up their brain, their liberty, seeking connection. They don’t even know there’s a zero day in their connection.
- Everyone's just mind control, you know, AI is coming. They don't even know.
- Look at all these NPCs sitting there walking, getting controlled. We're not NPC. I'm not NPC. You and me, brother.
- Sometimes they realize the force behind everything is nothing but people. Simple people. A human conversation can give you hope.
One of the popular comments under the video is "The new season of Mr. Robot looks different, but I'll take it" and the aftertaste of the video is really similar to the series. Mr. Robot, whose first season came out 10 years ago.
