Continue. story about behavioral interviews in foreign bigtechs, which I began in the first post.

  1. It is important for candidates to be able to properly present their experience, and for this it is important to understand their achievements and projects, as well as correlate their projects with the values of the company.
  2. It is important to choose the right projects for the story. For example, the author recommends dividing projects by personal involvement, business impact, and scale. It is important that the selected projects can be interesting to tell. (||A story about a dull project drives the interviewer into depression||)
  3. Interviews often ask questions about mistakes made. Don’t say they didn’t happen – all people are wrong, but good candidates admit mistakes and learn from them. (||The best learn from the mistakes of others.||)
  4. In addition to mistakes, the interviewer may ask about the candidate’s weaknesses. Do not answer them that they do not exist or “I am a workaholic”, it is important to recognize your weaknesses, and if you talk about the lessons learned from them, it will be even better. But for the interviewer, honesty and sincerity are important, fictional stories will not bring whistling.
  5. When preparing for an interview, it is important to think about how to show that you are a team fit and solve similar problems and can benefit a new company. The best way to show it is to show how you have achieved real results in the past and benefited the business.
  6. When preparing for an interview, be ready to talk about yourself, your favorite project, and a conflict situation. In principle, you can prepare a set of stories tied to the values of the company, as well as sorted by scale, personal participation and impact. This will help you to easily select examples from your experience for the interviewer’s questions.
  7. At the end of the interview, there is often time to ask questions to the interviewer – this is an important time to demonstrate interest in the company and the team. (If you are looking at a particular team)For example, you can ask questions about Development of department and technology On the management style of the hiring manager and the dynamics of the team

In principle, all the tips are quite logical and will help not just to prepare for an interview, but to start the process of reflection on your work experience and your expectations from the future. I recommend you think about them, even if you are not looking for a job:)

P.S. I once talked about how we hire people.
