[3/3] Developer productivity (Category Productivity)
Continuing posts 1 and 2 I want to remember what platforms with tools for assessing developer productivity are on the market.
- Cortex scorecards A platform where you can create ala scorecard for teams. These scorecards are based on metrics that can be pulled from DORA metrics, SPACE metrics, or even DevEx surveys.
- DevEx 360 A platform for conducting surveys on the topic DevEx. This platform actively drives the DevEx framework (and eat in techradar from ThoughtWorks)
- Code Climate Developer productivity metrics, which is called Code Climate Velocity These are Dora Metrics, OKR reporting, code review, PR activity.
- Pluralsight Flow Platform for evaluation of team cycle-time and statistics on PR’s activity
In general, there are good tools on the market for statistical process management and their improvement at the level of the teams themselves. (A metaphor for microeconomics from the first post). But often there are no holistic tools for analyzing macro indicators at the company level, which becomes extremely important at the scale of the engineering team. 10+ thousands of engineers (We're at Tinkoff on about this scale.). Interestingly, we also have our own platform in the form of T-Meter for statistical analysis of processes, which we actively develop internally and which is used by technical managers. We are also working on implementing the SPACE framework and improving DevEx surveys. In one of the next episodes of Code of Leadership, I'm going to invite colleagues to visit who are driving these directions and we'll discuss these issues in more detail. But I do not know the general tools for assessing the effect due to changes in the global parameters of the system. It seems to me that this toolkit every company does for itself and it overlaps greatly with business, finance, hr and other functional areas within the company:)
