Continuing a series of posts about your book writing training (See previous posts: 1, 2, 3 and 4)I'll talk about lesson five. It was about how to overcome writing blocks. This practical lesson was led by Yulia Bayandina, a partner and co-director of MIF, who nine years ago built a content marketing system from scratch.

Each participant worked with his or her A4 sheet, which he or she gradually filled in with text in the following order.

  1. Memories of your childhood, youth and other periods of life. I was born on the shore of the White Sea in the city of Severodvinsk and before 18 For years he lived with a view of the coast, behind which a coniferous forest began, which went to infinity and merged with the horizon:)
  2. Bright memories of each decadeFor example, as a child, I really liked to understand something new about the world - I was curious and liked to torment others with questions:)
  3. Memories of the beginning of writing. My first experience was writing fan fiction on Transformers, which I liked as a kid. Finally, I tried to write something about them in first grade... it’s cool that the old notebooks didn’t survive:) Now I want to go from articles to a large form and combine them into a book.
  4. Thoughts on what creativity is. It seems to me that my current work is also of a creative nature, since solving complex problems still comforts my curiosity and allows me not to get bored:) For the past few years, I’ve been creative in my blog and channel.
  5. A description of what books are for us.. For me, books are a way to rest and recharge. And your book is a way to unload on paper thoughts that have been spinning for a long time. I hope that later I can let go of these topics and switch to related ones.
  6. Our thoughts on the profession or the role of a writer. Which author can be an example for us? Specifically for me, the authors are people who showed willpower and were able to finish their book and put their thoughts on paper. I've read a lot of books and I like too many authors to single out specific ones.
  7. What we want to share with the audience. I answered this question in my first homework and I wanted to talk about management and technical leadership in IT. The book is about the challenges faced by leaders in technology companies in Russia and the world. This book is not about describing each situation and its solution, but rather about sharing my system of thinking that will allow readers to become more effective in terms of leadership. 😍 Description of your readers and target audience. For me, the target readers will be engineers and engineering managers who face technical and management challenges when developing software in their organizations.
  8. Description of the support team They are usually thanked at the beginning or end of the book. I liked the phrase, "Thank you to my family for coming out a couple of years later than I could have.")
  9. List of people who inspire us. I like guys like Jeff Dean, Andrew Tannenbaum, Wil Larson.
  10. Creating a book cover with book reviewsIt’s something we create on behalf of people that inspire us.
  11. Creating an abstract for the bookIn one paragraph, it should interest a potential reader who took the book into his hands.
  12. The title of the book and his name on the cover.
  13. Well, at the end you need to imagine that the book has already come out, you received your paper copy of the book and then remembered what passed between the start of work and release, and also that you helped to reach the end.
  14. Well, at the end we need to write the title to the essay, which we got as a result of this lesson.

P.S. I really liked this lesson because it gave me a different look at the book.)
