Continuing a series of posts about your book writing training (See previous posts: 1 and 2)I'll talk about the third lesson. He was devoted to how to decide on the topic of his non-fiction book. Below are the highlights I learned from this lesson.

1. The State of the Russian Book Market 2024 year Now fiction is growing and non-fiction is falling in general. S 2020 The Russian market lost contact with the world book market due to the pandemic and subsequent events, so there is a demand for books by homegrown authors.) 2. Aims and objectives of the authors You should first write your goals, further understand your target audience, and then understand that any book has the right to be written, and that this lesson is not intended to evaluate or decide whether to write a book. 3. Book formats E-books and audiobooks are now a significant market segment. (Previously, the focus was mostly on paper books.) 4. Value of nonfiction authors - 2022 The Russian book market lost contact with the world, trends began to diverge and there was a request for Russian nonfiction authors. 5. Commercial potential of the book It is the total ability to satisfy the consumer’s request. Publishers actually look at the potential when making decisions about publishing a book. For his assessment, they look at 4 parameter: the demand for the type of literature, genre, idea, author’s expertise and quality of content. The commercial potential of a book can be different, but most often books from popular genres and types of literature are published. 6. Classification non-fiction Non-fiction literature includes a huge number of areas, including psychology, relations, business literature, it, etc. 7. Assessing the potential of the genre Competition in different genres is different, for example, in psychology competition is high, but this does not mean that you should not go there. However, to achieve success in any genre, it is necessary to consider the requirements for the author and the book. 8. The influence of trends on the potential of the genre This is the first derivative of the popularity of a topic:) If the trend is long-term, you can try to curb it and write a book on the topic. Publishers pay attention to trends and you can use wordstat, sales reports, selections of new publishers and so on. 9. Trends in literature It is important to know about trends in order to weave them into your works and increase their commercial potential. Separately, it is important to monitor when trends begin to decline. 10. Choosing a theme book The topic should be important and significant for readers, as well as be related to the author’s experience and knowledge in a particular field. 11. Criteria for assessing the topic's potential You can assess the starting potential of the topic using the criteria of the genre, audience and potential for growth. And publishers look at the relevance of the topic, capacity, demand, audience and solvency. It should be noted that publishers can specialize in individual topics. 12. Depth and quality of text The publisher evaluates the quality of the text, the relevance of the topic, the depth and quality of the product. It is important that the text is clear and interesting for the reader, as well as comply with the norms of behavior and legislation. 13. The book's formula for success - here it is proposed to look at the mix of the target audience, genre, themes, ideas, presentation, packaging and promotion. 14. Naming and book packaging It is important to use words that are well searched for and metaphors in book titles. It is important that the title of the book be clear and unambiguous to attract the attention of readers and buyers. 15. Selection of target audience It is important to initially determine the target audience for the book - this affects the choice of title and content. Even if the audience is expected to be broad, it is important to make sure that the book is tailored to a specific audience.

P.S. You can read books about the topic of the book that I have already told about.
