The Visionary Strategy Club Meeting by SouthHub (Category Management)
One night this week I was at a club meeting. SouthHubWe discussed mission, vision, strategy and how this high matter affects the company. However, we also had a practical interest in how to recognize what a visionary like Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, or a fraudster like Elizabeth Holmes, Sam Bankman-Freed, or Adam Neuman tells you about this mission, vision, and strategy. We were asked to watch the documentary The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley. ("Inventor. Bloodlust in Silicon Valley)It tells the story of the unicorn Elizabeth Holmes called Theranos, who promised to change the scope of medical analysis. The film itself perfectly tells the story in dynamics, giving pieces of public interviews with Elizabeth, as well as other key participants in the events, so I recommend watching it if you haven’t seen it yet.
If we return to the question of the difference between the visionary and the fraudster, then we came to the conclusion that
- All high matter in the form missions, visions, strategies It can be reduced to high-level issues. - Why are we doing something? - Mission. - What exactly are we doing? - Vision. - How do we do that? - Strategy
- Visionaries from the list above (Jobs, Musk, Gates.) differ from the scammers on the list below (Holmes, Bankman-Freid, Neumann) only results. If the last three were to agree, we would continue to talk about them as the stars of the business world. In fact, many visionaries drown with their strategy to melt and someone manages to bring “fake it until make it” to the state of made, and someone remains at a broken trough.
- But visionary results are too lagging an indicator. I mean, we want to see if something comes out of the next visionary's mind. To do this, you can ask a number of questions to his strategy and check how consistent the answers look. You can look at it from different angles, like this. Clear and realistic vision
- Detailed implementation plan
- Stakeholder participation
- Emotional appeal vs. Manipulation
- Compliance with long-term objectives
- Transparency and trust Realism of the promised results
In the next post, I’ll go into a little more detail on these points, but in the end, I can immediately say that for too many of these points, Elizabeth Holmes’ approach to building a visionary strategy does not stand up to criticism. Perhaps that is why none of the professional investors and medical funds invested in this initiative, and money and influence were attracted from the state structures and pillars of politics. Well, initially it was doubtful, but ok... and then it became a scam.
