I love going to book fairs - these are interesting events that I come back from with packages of books. At the non/fiction book fair last year, I bought a short-lived book, Go Strategy: The Ancient Game and Modern Business, or How to Win the Competition, by Pavel Avrahamov. And I liked this book.
As a child, I studied chess for a long time, and I only heard about it for years. 7 Back when the AlphaGo computer beat Lee Sedol (I wrote more about this. here). I remember Deep Blue defeating Kasparov, and AlphaGo’s victory is comparable in scale. In general, for several years I wanted to know the details of the game Go, but did not reach the hand. I came across a book with such an attractive title. And it really came true - the book mixes the principles of the game of Go and their transfer to competition in the real world. It was definitely interesting to read, but Sino-Japanese game terms were a little eye-opening, even for such simple concepts as debut, middlegame and endgame. (Yeah, it's chess.). Anyway, I recommend the book. Learn a lot about the game itself and add to the collection of stories about business and difficult decisions that have to be made on the way to success. Examples will be from the life of large companies and personal experience of Pavel’s competition in the plumbing market.
