A boy made of cubes

My wife recommended this book to me a long time ago. I put it off for a long time, and when I started reading it, I read it for one day. The book is very touching and interesting, the main characters are voluminous and full of life. The main story takes place in the triangle of Alex, Jody, Sam, where Alex is the father of a family who makes a living.

• Jodie's a stay-at-home mom. Sam is a cute kid with high-functioning autism.

The story begins with Alex thinking, “I don’t have a family anymore,” and then he packs up and leaves for his friend Dan. Family life has cracked, as for many years everything in the family revolved around Sam, who was different from ordinary children. His mother, for the most part, pulled the load alone while Alex was at work and providing for the family. But this situation led to the fact that Alex’s communication with Sam too often ended in Sam’s tantrums and Alex’s anger, who could not predict what next incident would lead to them. And this uncertainty was not giving rest to Alex, whose childhood trauma led to the fact that he needed a sense of control over what was happening and did not need any surprises. Interestingly, dad and son are similar in that they find common ground playing Minecraft... the game that gave the book its title.
