Three years ago, I read The Little Book on Big String Theory by Princeton University professor Stephen Gabser. I found the book extremely informative.

The author is brilliant with metaphors, for example, he explains quantum states using the example of Chopin’s “Expromt-fantasy”, and the work of gravity on the example of his conquest of one of the mountains, when he had to experience free fall and be on the very edge:) And these are metaphors for relatively simple models - the heat starts when the author moves from simple and understandable theories like quantum mechanics or general relativity to string theory. In general, the book was interesting, but it came to me quite hard. The complexity was similar to the popular science book "Reading Turing," which I wrote about earlier. https://t.me/book_cube/87
