Last weekend, we were with the kids at the just-released film Manyunya: Ba's Birthday, which is based on Narine Abgaryan's books, which I'm already talking about. wrote. The picture perfectly conveys the atmosphere of the book and combines nostalgia for children's adventures, family values and subtle humor. The basis for the film was the story of Narine Abgaryan “Manyunya, the anniversary of Ba and other worries” – the final part of the series about the adventures of three friends. Abgaryan, known for her autobiographical stories, put personal memories of her childhood in an Armenian town into the script. Her involvement in writing the script (together with Nara Akobyan and Gaik Asatryan) This ensures closeness to the source. For example, episodes of ram escape or spoiled cake directly refer to book descriptions, highlighting the chaotic charm of village life. An important element was the topic of growing up. If in the first films of the franchise the emphasis was on the pranks of the heroines, then in the final part the director and screenwriters explore their emotional conflicts. The scene of Narine and Manyuni's altercation over the latter's impending move reflects a fear of losing friendship - a motive Abgaryan reveals through the metaphor of Narine's nightmare.

In general, the film is interesting to watch - it has examples of difficult situations, but there is no unnecessary moralizing. Despite its modest budget, the film demonstrates that family cinema can be both funny, touching and profound. However, in some scenes it is clear that the budget was very limited, so, for example, we follow the ram’s escape rather by the reaction of the main characters, rather than by the actions of the sheep:)
