I finished reading a book by Reed Hastings and Erin Meyer on Neflix’s corporate culture. This book is very interesting about a company that Paying employees above the market (And if you want more, bring an offer from a competitor.) laying off good employees to secure seats for stars – a consequence of the concept of increasing talent concentration

  • let you make decisions without a pile of approvals, but with personalized responsibility Share most sensitive information with employees inside so they understand the overall context of decision making Teach employees to think in terms of how my decision will help the whole company.
  • perceive the results of employee initiatives positively - even if the result is unsuccessful, the experience gained should be useful for the company practise radical honesty in reverse binding and use a survey to do so 360 communication sessions 360
  • use a relegation test from the team, where the leader conducts a thought experiment imagining that he has to decide whether to hold Petya or not. And if he decides that Petya should not be held, then Petya should be fired immediately. practice meaningful cultural adaptation in the global organization that Netflix became after its expansion outside the United States Do follow rules in some areas, such as Wall Street financial reporting, cybersecurity, or sexual harassment.

In general, the book is interesting and worth reading, but as usual do not forget that bestsellers from business literature are often built on the effect of “survivor’s error”. Such books are interesting to read, but not the fact that if you follow the described recipes, you will get similar results.
