New Year's gifts and holidays (Rubric #Hardware)
For the new year my children Santa Claus brought the console PlayStation 5It’s a game they’ve been enjoying since returning from football camps, which I’ll write about separately. I bought myself a set-top box, too, but ... another toy won in the form of Beelink GTR9 Pro AMD RyzenTM AI Max+. 395. I really wanted to run the models locally. This hardware standards processor and has a built-in video chip, and 128 Gb unified memory can be given to video memory 96Gb (That's the maximum.). She gives it away. 126 TOPS performance and easily fit quantized models on 70 or 80 Billions, craftsmen stuff OSS 120b from OpenAI, but I have under Ubuntu 25.10 until it took off (I know that ROCm is not officially supported on Ubuntu, but it will be released in April. 26 version where I'll move right away). All this happiness is on Aliexpress in the region of 200k and delivered in Moscow within a couple of days. Great toy for the developer:)
P.S. Separately, I was ready for problems with the network – there are two 10Gb Ethernet ports from Intel, which are reported from the forums. But I was planning to connect over WiFi - as a result, my Ubuntu installation with WiFi enabled fell off after connecting the network. I found out that the WiFi block in this computer (or driver to it) While unstable - solved the problem by buying a Realtek dongle for WiFi and plugged it into one of the USB ports, now the network works norms.
