This article 2021 by Anna Berenberg and Brad Calder of Google 50 pages are devoted to building reliable applications by cleverly using fault domains to provide the necessary availability for the application, which can be different for different types of applications (business-critical applications, line-of-business applications, internal applications). By title, it seems that this article refers exclusively to applications that unfold in the cloud.
