The Relativity of Determining the Best

I once wrote about the book "Scientists Joke." (posts 1 and 2)Which I really liked. And I decided to buy more humorous books from this series and bought a book called Chess Players. and win. There are many jokes of world champions, contenders, grandmasters, as well as celebrities from other fields who loved chess. But there is no funny story in this book that I liked. It is dedicated to the second world champion, Emanuel Lasker, who owned the crown. 27 frontier 19 and 20 century. And here's the story.

Lasker once played chess with an amateur. He asked the grandmaster to advise him on the best move. Lasker suggested that the amateur made this move, and the next move the chess player put him mate. When the amateur began to resent, Lasker replied that he suggested him a move that was best for himself. I liked this story as a child because asking a question without specifying the criteria, you can get a cat in a bag:)

P.S. The book is called “Chess Players Joking.” I loved it, but I’ve read about half of those funny stories. 25-30 years ago:)
