Results of the Podlodka Techlead Crew ticket draw (Category Architecture)

This Saturday I'm announce A ticket draw for a conference where I will discuss the design of reliable systems as part of a roundtable 14 October. To participate in the draw, you had to offer interesting books or a whitepaper that came out recently and about which I did not talk. My subscribers sent the following options:

  1. Anatoly K. shared the whole compilation about the reliability that he studied in his research.
  2. “Alexander proposed a book that is not entirely about reliability, but rather about distributed systems.”Think Distributed Systems" Alexander liked the chapter on mental models. And I agree that often the problems in designing distributed systems can begin with the fact that their creators chose the wrong mental model for the use cases they solve with it:) It’s an interesting book, and when it’s finished, I’ll study it.
  3. Timur Sharapov offered a fresh article 2024 yearWhat Goes Around Comes Around... And Around..from such titans as Michael Stonebraker and Andrew Pavlo. Suffice it to say that the first created many different DBMS, among which was the beloved postgres. And Andrew's doing great. baseline Carnegie Mellon University. The article is very cool, but the garter to reliability is very indirect. If I asked for a fresh article on databases, it would have won by a wide margin.
  4. Mikhail Romashov offered an article about CRDTApproaches to Conflict-free Replicated Data Types" Interestingly, this is one of the skates of the beloved author of the book with a boar "DDIA", Martin Kleppman, about which he often talks. (About one of my recent speeches. beforehand).

In general, each of the four participants creatively approached the participation and threw out interesting materials, but only one focused on reliability and sent a list of whole. 17 Whitepaper instead of one, but with a good analysis of the essence of the research.
