Today we have the excellent book The Model Thinker and the Model Thinking course on Coursera.

The book is about 3 model Simplified models of the world – the approach of maximum embodiment, striving for maximum reliability Mathematical analogies – abstraction from reality without a goal in certainty (spherical) Research constructs are a method of alternative reality, deliberately does not represent or reflect reality. (play) The model must be solvable, i.e. simple enough to apply logic. One model is good, and the combination of models of different types is even better – they allow you to achieve more and look at the problem from different angles. The active use of models leads to model thinking, which the author popularizes as “Models make us smarter.” Without them, people suffer from a long list of cognitive biases ...
