Last week I decided to read something light and unstressed ... and took off the shelf this fresh book by Alexei Semikhatov, whose lectures I watched with great pleasure. Postscience. Since then, Alexei managed to write two popular science books "Everything that moves" in the world. 2023 and "One Hundred Years of Unsaid" in 2024 year. I began at the end, or rather with the second book, in which the author laid out on his fingers the key principles of quantum mechanics and its various interpretations. In the book 25 The individual essays that are connected by a single thread that leads us, like Ariadne’s thread, from the question of “what things are made of” to the standard model of elementary particles, passing through all the main intermediate stations, like molecules and atoms, electrons and photons, the Schrödinger and Dirac equations, the heated discussions of Bohr and Einstein regarding the correctness of the Copenhagen interpretation, and so on. If we talk about the main points that the author highlighted, then this

1) Principles of the Quantum WorldThe author discusses the features of quantum reality, which is bad friends with human intuition. He explains how quantum laws shape the world around us, including the existence of atoms, the interaction of light and matter, and the processes underlying the Sun’s workings. 2) The evolution of quantum systems: The author considers the rules by which quantum systems develop over time. (Here comes the Schrödinger equation and his cat.)and the role of probabilities in these processes (It's the Bourne rule.). Interesting is the collapse of the wave function in observation 3) Interpretations of quantum mechanicsSemikhatov explores various approaches to understanding quantum reality, from the hypothesis of parallel universes to questions about gaps in perception. These interpretations are very interesting from a philosophical point of view. (I especially liked Cubeism, which reminded me of solipsism in its approach.) 4) Transition to the macro world: The book explains how our familiar reality emerges from an alien quantum world. Semikhatov shows that the classical laws of physics cannot explain many phenomena without taking into account their quantum nature. 5) Spin and its meaning: The spin of an electron passes through the book, which the author describes as a quantum measure of rotation, and with this property, the fundamental quantum nature of our world is most easily demonstrated. To measure the direction of the spin, the Stern-Gerlach device is used, which, appearing in one of the first chapters, is further mentioned constantly:)

I really liked the book - I read it in one breath in five evenings. I think that it would be useful for me to visualize the concepts outlined by Landau and Lifshitsev in their famous book. serieswhich I have read for years 20 Back when I was studying Physics:) This is especially true when you consider that Alexei Semikhatov’s book does not contain a single formula:)
