I finished reading this on Friday. book From the series "Build + Become", and the Russian title of the series translated "Think Different". The book describes current and future technologies in English. 2018 Since then, many technologies have become closer to reality than at the time of writing. (Hyperloop) The hype is a little quiet. Just like the other books in the series here. 5 piece 4 Chapters that focus on specific topics:

1) The technology is near

  1. Virtual reality - against the background of problems with the promotion of a metaverse from a company of the same name, this topic is not so hot
  2. Augmented reality - on the contrary, everyone is interested in what will be in real operation headset from Apple
  3. Artificial intelligence is a topic on hype, taking into account LLM models (more speech Alex Castronius)
  4. Smart home – this topic is developing smoothly

2) Study 5. Self-driving cars - who is not involved in them, but the news about Tesla Elon Musk is loudest 6. Hyperloop - Elon's project about a kind of underground train, big news has not been heard for a long time 7. Exoskeleton - to the consumer market, they have not really reached, but research is underway 8. A new space race - dreams of space and to start with a flight to Mars. We all remember Elon sending Tesla into orbit to demonstrate that his Falcon Heavy rocket could launch a payload to Mars orbit. (though Musk's roadster to Mars ~~fail~~It won't fly.)

If this topic is interesting, then I recommend reading the book “Blockchain Basics”, which I once wrote. survey And it doesn't talk about cryptos and all the other stuff around it. It is rather about the basic concepts of the distributed registry. 16. The Autonomous Army is a story about autonomous drones and the automation of warfare.

5) Going beyond 17. Quantum computing is a story about quantum computers, in which a little too much with pathos. In fact, there is already quantum-resistant encryption, so that secrets will be preserved even with the advent of powerful quantum computers.
