The Ideal Executive: Why You Cannot Be One and What To Do About It (The Perfect Leader) (Category Management)

Today I decided to recall the book by Yitzhak Adizes “The Ideal Leader”. Why can’t they be and what does it mean, which I bought because of the name:) It is funny that on the cover of the book the first sentence is written in large and bold letters, and the second is like a footnote under an asterisk, as they do in tricky promotional offers:) To summarize the author’s thought, the idea of fix, which is promoted from all sides, that you can become an ideal leader for everyone at once, is not real:) But it is possible to assemble a team that will optimally solve problems. (And this idea is well-revealed in the movie Moneyball.). In general, the whole demagoguery of the author about the ideal leader reminded me of such a concept from physics as the ideal gas - everyone talks about it and uses it in their models, but in practice ...

The author reveals his model of managerial styles in the form of a combination of four PAEI functions:

  • (RR) - Producing results Production of the results for which the company exists and which determine its effectiveness
  • (And) - Administering Administration that ensures efficiency
  • (E) – Entrepreneuring Business Responsible for Change Management
  • (I) – Integrating Integration, combining elements of the organization to ensure its long-term viability

And he also talks about the interaction of people represented by different codes:) As usual, for understanding people, any model of this format (where different people are classified into a very limited number of classes) It looks very rough and approximate, but a healthy grain in the very idea is certainly present:) In general, I advise you to read to get acquainted with the model itself, and even try to apply the theory in practice or not, it remains at the discretion of the reader:)
