Turn the Ship Around L. David Marquet Talks at Google

I saw something interesting today. speech on the topic of leadership David MarquetHe is a former captain of an American submarine and the author of the best-selling book “Turn the Ship Around”. In this book, the author recounts his experience as captain of the USS Santa Fe, which once held the last place in terms of retention and operation. He was transferred to this submarine with another, where he was also a captain, but here he had to face a new submarine, which he did not know thoroughly. As a result, he had to adjust and change his leadership style from telling others what to do to another:) In this video, the author talks about his approach, which brought him success as a submarine captain and later as a book author and consultant on organizational development and leadership.

In general, the author's thoughts about leadership are quite interesting and allow you to reflect relatively Conceptual approach to leadership (if there is) Your behavior as a leader (how this approach manifests itself) I can only say that the myths listed by the author are strong in new leaders and they can produce results in a small group, but they do not scale well and do not allow both the leader and his team to grow:)
