Space two. The Art of Management and Strategy of the Future (Escape Velocity: Free Your Company's Future from the Pull of the Past)
I read this book about strategic management seven years ago. And a book on such a hackneyed topic should stand out from the rest – this one stands out with an abundant use of metaphors, starting with the title, continuing with the title of chapters and ending with examples in chapters. By the way, the author loves to use idioms, so the footnote "Good translation!" on the cover of the book with translation into Russian is important information:)
If you go to the essence of the book, it is quite saturated. The author describes his Hierarchy of Forces approach well, which is a bit like a puff pie:) This cake consists of discussions:
- product category companies market proposals implementation
At the end of the book, the author reports that their plans for transforming client companies are usually built around: concepts (Focus on product category, company, market) strategies (Focus on the company, the market, the offer) production (focus on the market, supply, implementation)
The book is useful, but like all books, it is quite abstract.
P.S. It’s funny when authors retrospectively pick the “great” companies that have succeeded and attribute it to certain factors. But they all forget that the same factors were observed in a number of their competitors, which burned out. It’s especially funny when these great companies with the same success factors continue to perform poorly. In general, the error of the survivor in full growth:) The Halo Effect: And the Eight Other Business Delusions That Deceive Managers (The halo effect and other misconceptions of every manager.)"that I was talking about." earlier.
