What we discussed on the recording

Dmitry Kotelnikov is the technical leader of the Origination platform and heads the department building shared product-application capabilities for T-Bank. Over more than eight years, he moved from a junior developer to a domain leader while staying close to origination.

His story begins in Ryazan, at a radio engineering university, and with a first job through a T-Bank contractor. Dmitry explains why the product mattered more to him than any single technology, how he grew while legacy banking systems were rewritten, and how shared application logic was separated from product-specific processes.

The conversation moves from an infrastructure team and developer tooling to reliability. A large integration graph creates a combinatorial explosion of dependencies, where one failure can turn the entire application tree red. Templates, shared mocking, application-health diagnostics, and a dedicated reliability function emerged in response.

The platform owns more than technical components: it influences conversion, a customer's first experience, and the time needed to launch or change products. The closing topics include multi-offer complexity, balancing shared rules with product autonomy, becoming a technical manager, and making continuous learning part of a sustainable routine.
