Conversation

What we discussed on the recording

Denis Pakhomov heads the social-platform engineering department at T-Bank. It includes Pulse in the black and yellow apps and Link, the internal social network. His path began with C++, learned from his uncle, an information-security degree in Tambov, and software built for his university.

Before T-Bank, Denis worked at Text.ru, served as Head of Development for a payment aggregator, and launched corporate-banking products at Sber. T-Bank's engineering culture drew him in. His first task ranked offers with machine learning when communication slots were scarce; he then assembled a team for a campaign master system.

As his scope grew, he took on a cross-functional feed team and the challenge of unifying several social products. The conversation covers the old Social system, public profiles, Pulse in the yellow app, identifying a shared product core, documenting architecture, and choosing the moment when consolidation still makes economic sense.

The organization now spans five areas, 14 teams, and roughly 140 people: core, product integrations, delivery tooling, web development, and moderation. Key signals include time spent, valuable and verified content, engagement, and retention. Denis closes by mapping where a manager's time goes and sharing principles for deliberate growth.
